Gen Z Men's Fashion - Style Guide

Generation Z has a ton of influence in the fashion world. With most of Gen Z being brought up with smartphones and business taking place online, Gen Z men are some of the biggest fashion consumers today.

Online trends and celebrities heavily influence Gen Z men’s fashion and style. With celebrities and influencers constantly exposing Gen Zers to new styles on Instagram, TikTok and YouTube, we are seeing wide variety of outfits that other generations have not had.

Which raises the question:

What Do Gen Z Men Like to Wear?

Nowadays, Gen Z men are wearing anything from the latest styles to retro fashion. The latest styles include: tapered pants, joggers and oversized hoodies. Retro brands like Champion, New Balance and even The Gap, have made a major comeback among generation Z.

In this post, I share an extensive style guide of what Gen Z men are wearing. I also share what is out of style for generation Z guys and what brands Gen Zers wear.

Gen Z Style Guide for Men

There are many different styles that Gen Z men are wearing these days. Expressing yourself through your clothing is a good thing, so finding your own style among the fashion trends is great.

This allows for all kinds of styles to be worn, ranging from the retro 90’s guy’s skate style to a preppier look with tucked in shirts and tapered pants.

As a Gen Z guy born in 2000, this is awesome because I don’t feel pressure from society to look or dress a certain way. Some days I’m comfortable going out in sweatpants or a track suit, and other days I’ll wear tapered pants, polo shirts and designer shoes.

With that being said, here are some different styles being worn by Gen Z men:

Gen Z Casual Style

A staple for Gen Z men is the casual outfit. Many Gen Z guys will wear a white shirt with black jeans or joggers and white shoes.

This makes a great base for any outfit and can be layered very nicely. Layering this outfit with a bomber jacket, crewneck, or zip up sweater looks great.

A slim-fit or tapered fit for the pants is pretty popular for Gen Z guys. Some Gen Z men may choose to wear skinny jeans but in my opinion, they’re on their way out (I’ll get to that later!).

This base outfit is so versatile and can be worn in so many different ways. It’s great for going to school, the office or out for dinner.

Gen Z Skater Style

Skate style has made a huge comeback in the last few years. Many skater outfits draw inspiration from the outfits from the late 90’s and early 2000’s.

Baggy pants, oversized shirts, vans and a cap are the basics to dressing in skate style. Skater style got popular on social media apps like TikTok and Instagram and has become super trendy among Gen Z guys.

Ironically, wired earphone has made a comeback to fit the 2000’s aesthetic even though many people have wireless earphones like AirPods.

Gen Z Summer Style

For the summer, Gen Z guys have began to wear shorter shorts, button up shirts and vibrant colors.

It’s popular for Gen Z guys to wear socks with sandals. Although many people find it looks tacky, I actually find wearing socks with sandals to be very comfortable.

Gen Z men will wear anything from short sleeve graphic t-shirts to polo shirts. With how accepting and diverse society has become, Gen Zers are open to different styles and looks.

Gen Z Hypebeast

This article wouldn’t be complete if I didn’t include the Hypebeast style. Streetwear brands like Supreme, Bape and Off-White have become super popular among Gen Zers.

Starting in 2015, streetwear brands became the biggest fashion trends creating a huge resell market. This made streetwear items extremely sought after and hyped up, thus creating the term “Hypebeast”.

When it comes to Gen Z clothing for guys, at some point every Gen Z guy had a phase where they were into streetwear brands.

If you’re looking to dress like a hypebeast, pick up some Yeezys, a Supreme shirt and a Supreme cap.

Trendy Style

Styles come and go due to fast fashion brands and influencers constantly introducing consumers to new styles. What was trendy a few months ago, could be out of style now.

There are so many different styles that are popular right now, it would be impossible to list them all.

With that being said, here are some trendy clothes right now:

Ripped jeans are popular among Gen Zers, but they could be on their way out. They still are popular but Gen Z guys are beginning to wear jeans without rips.

Short shorts are very popular among Gen Z men. For those hot days, wearing some short shorts is very stylish.

Joggers are loved by Gen Z guys and they’ve really evolved. Originally, joggers had these complex designs but now they are being made in different materials and simple styles.

Graphic t-shirts are very popular among Gen Z men. The thing about Graphic t-shirts is that allows for you to show your interests and styles.

Bulky Shoes have become very popular among Gen Z guys. Many people consider bulky shoes to be “futuristic” looking.

Tennis Shoes are versatile shoes that go with so many different outfits. White tennis shoes like Stan Smiths and Gucci Ace Sneakers are loved and popular among Gen Z men.

What is Out of Style According to Gen Z

On the most part, Gen Z men are very open to different kinds of trends and outfits. With that being said, styles come and go and here are some styles that are on their way out of style.

Skinny Jeans

At one time, skinny jeans were extremely popular. Now slim-fit and even loose fitting jeans are very popular among Gen Z guys. It’s looking like skinny jeans are a thing of the past.

Long Shorts

Long shorts are no longer in fashion for Gen Z guys. Nowadays, shorter fitting shorts or short shorts are being worn by Gen Zers.

This allows for guys to show off their legs, plus they are way more comfortable.

Vibrant Colored Jeans

Versatile colors like beige, black, grey, and blue jeans are popular. Any other color is considered to be too vibrant and not very popular among gen Z guys.

Leather Jackets

Leather jackets do look cool, but they are not very popular among Gen Z men. On the most part, Gen Z guys choose to wear bomber jackets, jean jackets or sherpa jackets.
