Unfortunately, there are no Shoe Palaces in my home state 😭, but on a recent road trip to NYC I was able to visit one of their stores, and I loved it! Their name is very appropriate, because it literally WAS a palace of the best sneaker styles and brands! One of the best things about them was that they had a lot of styles in larger sizes – something I very much appreciated. The staff were very helpful and chill, and pretty much everything you said here accurately reflects the experience I had. It was a cool place to shop, and I wish they would open a store closer to me!
I really enjoyed reading this, because it brought back awesome memories of the really fun adventure I had that day. Random road trips to big cities like Boston and NYC are the best!

Lol – it’s been a long time since I bought a new pair of the basic all-leather white Air Force 1’s, and I’d forgotten how punishing the break-in process can be. The leather is very thick, tough, and high quality, but man does it hurt breaking that quality in lol. I’ve worn them for about a week and they’re
finally starting to soften a bit – yay!! It usually takes me about two weeks of daily wear to fully tame the beasts lol.
The first time I ever bought a pair of AF1’s way back when, I remember I gave up on them after a couple of days when my toes started getting blisters. I was like yeah screw this lol these sneakers are stupid! But then a friend told me to keep wearing them, because eventually the leather softens, your toes heal (lol), and the resulting comfort is worth the wait. They were absolutely right, and I have been totally addicted to AF1’s ever since! I have to say the quality of those shoes is still every bit as great today as it was back in the 80’s and 90’s.
