When purchasing a pair of shoes from an online marketplace, it can be hard to know if you received legit or fake shoes. As a sneakerhead who has used GOAT in the past, I know firsthand whether or not GOAT sells authentic sneakers.

Which raises the question…

Does GOAT Sell Fake Shoes?

GOAT does not allow the sale of fake and illegal goods on their marketplace. GOAT provides a platform for buyers and sellers. However, they authenticate each product to prevent counterfeits and fakes from entering their resale marketplace.

One of the benefits of shopping with GOAT is that they provide a Buyer Protection Policy. This means you are covered if an item is inauthentic, doesn’t match the item description or images, is incorrect, or is missing key features.

If you have an issue with your purchase, you must contact GOAT within three days of receiving your product.

Once your claim is approved, GOAT will give you a shipping label to return the item. Once the product is received, the GOAT team will verify your claim and refund you in your original payment method or GOAT credit.

Pros and Cons of Using GOAT

As a platform, GOAT has its pros and cons. It’s important to assess the pros and cons of GOAT before purchasing products on their platform.

Pros of Using GOAT:

Here are the pros of using the GOAT platform:

Great Selection

The GOAT app offers various sneakers, clothing items, limited edition releases, and rare products. This is why GOAT is a go-to platform for sneaker enthusiasts.

GOAT’s inventor ranges from limited-edition sneakers to designer clothing and accessories. Many items on GOAT are sold out in stores and can only be purchased on the secondary marketplace.

Many sneakerheads find GOAT a great place to buy authentic shoes or rare items.

Functional App

GOAT’s mobile app is an easy and convenient way for users to browse, purchase, and sell sneakers from their mobile devices. The GOAT app frequently updates its inventory with new sneaker releases, making it easy for users to get their hands on the latest trends and styles.

One of the best features of the GOAT app is the sneaker trends data. This feature is helpful for buyers before their purchase.

Before purchasing an item, users can also read ratings and reviews from other buyers and sellers. This can be valuable when assessing the authenticity and condition of the sneakers.

Once the consumer makes their purchase, they can easily track the order status. The user will receive notifications on the status of their purchase, making the buying process transparent.

Authentication Process

GOAT is known for having a rigorous authentication process. The strict authentication process ensures counterfeit shoes are not sold on their platform.

They have a verification team that will authenticate products. This helps buyers avoid purchasing counterfeit or fake products.

GOAT is known for its strict authentication process. It verifies the authenticity of sneakers, which helps buyers avoid counterfeit or fake products.

Reliable Platform

In the secondary market, it is very common for counterfeit sneakers to be sold. However, GOAT has built a reputation as a reliable platform for purchasing legit shoes.

Goat’s authentication process makes it hard for fake shoes to slip through the cracks. If you receive a fake pair of shoes, GOAT will issue you a full refund.

Purchasing rare shoes can be a challenging process. However, GOAT makes it easy by having their team of experts legit check your items before receiving them.

Cons of Using GOAT:

Here are the cons of using GOAT:

Pricing & Fees

Many times, sneakers listed on GOAT will be priced higher than their retail value, especially for limited edition releases and rare sneakers. Buyers must pay a premium to purchase specific limited or rare sneakers.

GOAT charges fees for both buyers and sellers. Sellers pay a commission on the sale price, and buyers may have to pay shipping costs. These fees can add to the overall cost of purchasing sneakers.

Something to note is that the sneaker market can be subject to price fluctuations. The value of sneakers purchased on GOAT may fluctuate over time.

This means that your shoes can be a good investment, or they can drop in value. It’s important to do your research before purchasing an expensive pair of shoes to ensure you get a good deal.

Risk of Counterfeits

While GOAT has a reliable authentication process, there still is a small risk of fake shoes entering the platform. It’s crucial for buyers to exercise caution and to inspect the shoes once they receive them.

One Reddit user claims he received a fake pair of Air Jordan sneakers from GOAT. However, he reached out to their customer service department and was refunded.

Since GOAT authenticates so many sneakers, a few fakes may slip through the cracks. Nowadays, replica shoes can look very similar to the originals!

Shipment Time & Authentication Delays

Due to the thorough authentication process, there may be delays in the shipping and delivery of sneakers. When you purchase an item from GOAT, the seller has to send it to get authenticated, and GOAT will ship the item to you. This can be lengthy, resulting in very long shipping times.

Competition

Since there is a large secondary market for rare sneakers and limited-edition items, GOAT has significant competition. Alternative vendors, like Stock X, Flight Club, and Grailled, may offer lower prices on sneakers and luxury goods.

Additionally, there are retail stores that offer raffles for customers to get a chance to purchase a rare pair of sneakers.

Where Does GOAT Get Their Shoes From?

GOAT receives its shoes from retailers, boutiques, and individual sellers. Sellers list their items on the GOAT marketplace, and buyers will browse them. Although sellers can list shoes and accessories, they must ship their products to GOAT for authentication before the customer receives them.

Why Do People Think GOAT Sells Fake Sneakers?

For the most part, GOAT shoes are legit. However, some cases have been of customers receiving fake shoes from GOAT.

Since GOAT is so popular, they must authenticate hundreds of shoes daily. This means that replica shoes or fake shoes can pass the authentication process.

Although it is rare, several consumers have received fake shoes from GOAT. When this happens, it gives GOAT a negative reputation since a large part of their service is the authentication process.

What if GOAT Sends Fake Shoes?

GOAT will not ship a product if the item is fake or not as described. In this case, the buyer will receive a full refund. If the product is authenticated, it will be shipped to the buyer.

Are Shoes from GOAT Brand New?

You’ll find both new and used shoes for sale on the GOAT website. The GOAT Clean program features gently used sneakers which have been graded and cleaned by professionals.

Does GOAT Refund Your Money?

Once a return request is submitted, GOAT will take up to 7 days to verify. Once the staff confirms and verifies the return, they will send a refund as GOAT credit. GOAT credits will automatically be added to your online GOAT account. Unfortunately, GOAT does not offer cash back on returns.

  1. “GOAT credit” – I love that lol 😁

I may not know much about online commerce, but I do know this:

Any generation that has the tech and business savvy to create, name, and now conduct business on a website called GOAT has got to be a generation of total futuristic legends. I know there tends to be a lot of sarcasm out there these days, but I am not being sarcastic when I say that.

’23 humans and the amazing stuff you are all creating and using out there so effortlessly these days…it’s fascinating. This was a really cool article 🐐

  2. Anyone who thinks that Gen Z is
“boring” has never lived in a university town where Z’ers number in the thousands nine months of the year and literally run the show…

Today was a typical day in my life here lol:

First, while driving through a roundabout, I found myself exchanging friendly waves with a rabbit on a motorbike – well, actually it was a Gen Z’er wearing a rabbit head helmet to be exact – yes, an actual furry rabbit head helmet lol – complete with huge smiling rabbit teeth and pointed foot-long rabbit ears! πŸ˜‚ How did I know there was a Gen Z’er under that helmet, you might ask? Because said rabbit was proudly sporting white Nike Blazer high-tops…total giveaway! 😁

A bit later, I found myself stopped two cars diagonally behind a car of Gen Z’ers with its windows down – two males and three females – who were mysteriously taking turns barking loudly like dogs. Should you ever find yourself in a similar situation, you should know that an equally loud, well-timed, cat-like “MRROWWWWW!” from behind will immediately silence said “dogs”, have them looking around themselves highly confused, and then ultimately laughing hysterically as they drive off πŸ˜‚

Finally, I made a stop at the local coffee shop and, as I often do, asked the friendly Z’er behind the counter to make me the most random, creative drink they could think of. A true Z’er will always rise to the challenge and welcome the chance to show off their talents lol, and today was no different! This time, I was surprised with what this particular Z’er said was an “off the menu” recipe they had personally created on their down time there – iced coffee flavored with toffee, finely ground nuts, white chocolate, topped with vanilla cream, swirled with raspberry sauce, and served espresso style. Let me tell you….πŸ’£πŸ’£πŸ’£πŸ”₯πŸ”₯πŸ”₯πŸ’―πŸ’―πŸ’―!!! These Z people know what they are doing!

So yeah, trust me, Gen Z is NOT boring!!! 😁 If you take the time to talk and interact with them – and treat them like actual human beings and encourage their talents instead of discouraging them – you will quickly realize just how awesome, friendly, and giving they can be. They, as a generation, are light years beyond any that I have known in my time on this earth, and they are the gen that is going to turn this society around and take it to a level nobody ever thought was possible – wait for it.

If daily life in this town is any indication of how random, real, falr, and fun life is gonna be in the rest of the world as Z’ers continue to spread out and take things over, well, I can’t wait, and I am so grateful that I am getting to see it play out!

  3. This is the sort of thing you probably won’t read about on the many websites out there that mischaracterize Gen Z these days….

While waiting in line at the self-checkout area in a store yesterday, three Z’ers were in front of me – 3 friends/roommates who were maybe 19-20 (this is a university town) – who were going to pay for their purchases together in one transaction. While they were waiting, one of them walked about ten feet away to check out the beverages in a nearby fridge.

Meanwhile, a checkout kiosk had opened up and the two others he was with walked over to it. He wasn’t aware yet that they had moved on, and so I made sure I left him enough room in the line to still get by me and join up with the others. When he eventually looked up and realized he had been abandoned (lol), instead of re-joining them he quietly got back in line behind me. I turned back to him and told him he was welcomed to go in front of me to pay for his stuff with his friends as originally planned, but he said he didn’t feel right about “cutting” back in and making me wait for him to scan his purchases now after he had “already caused a delay” (his own words).

I wouldn’t hear of it, and insisted that he join his friends who were still holding the transaction open for him. He reluctantly did so, nodded his head politely, and thanked me. As they were leaving, all three of them made a point of turning back to me and politely thanked me again, and I thanked THEM for being so amazingly considerate.

Gen Z, you are one really class act, and I’m very grateful to Ethan for allowing me to share some of these interactions here so that people who don’t necessarily have a lot of encounters with them yet can hear what Z’ers are really all about.
