How to Dress on a Cruise as a Teenage Guy?
On a cruise, teenagers are free to wear whatever they want during the day. For a Caribbean cruise, pack bathing suits, tank tops and flip flops as the weather is going to be very hot.
For an Alaskan cruise, pack some warm clothes and dress in layers. It’s a good idea to pack dress clothes for cruise formal nights, and nicer clothes for evenings.

What to Wear on a Cruise Formal Night for Teen Guys
On most cruises, there will be a formal night or dress up night one or two nights.
On formal night, you will have to dress nicely and wear a suit or dress pants and a dress shirt to the dining room. Depending on the cruise line, formal night may also go by dress your best, elegant night or chic night.
On formal night, almost everyone on the cruise ship will be wearing formal clothing. Older people may wear tuxedos but generally, wearing a suit or a dress shirt and dress pants will be acceptable. Don’t forget your dress shoes and a belt!
Consider packing one dark suit, one pair of shoes, and 2 shirts and a tie so you can wear this on 2 different nights.
If dressing up isn’t your thing, you can always eat in the buffet where you won’t be required to dress up. Many people will do this, as they don’t feel the need to dress up on vacation.

Suit
On formal night a suit is going to be worn by most people. A nice suit will be a very nice formal night outfit. If you like wearing ties, wear a tie. If you prefer not to wear a tie, you can leave the top button open.
Dress Shirt and Dress Pants
If you’re not a fan of wearing a suit, try wearing a dress shirt and dress pants. It’s good to tuck in your shirt as it will look more formal. If you’re tucking in your shirt, wear a belt as it looks nicer.
Tuxedo
Nowadays, tuxedo’s aren’t really worn on cruises very much, especially by teens. If you really like to dress up then you can wear a tuxedo, but this isn’t very common.
What to Wear to Dinner on a Cruise for Guys
On a cruise you will either eat dinner in the dining room, buffet or at a specialty restaurant.
For the buffet, you will not be required to dress up. If you’re eating in the dining room or at a specialty restaurant, you will have to dress up a bit. The dress code is usually casual or smart casual, which is similar to how you would dress for a nice restaurant at home.
What to Wear to the Dining Room on a Cruise
At the dining room you will have to dress nice. Chino’s, jeans, polo shirts and nice sweaters are all commonly worn to the dining room.
When it comes to shoes, dress shoes, leather sneakers or nice boating shoes will be allowed.
What Not to Wear to The Dining Room on a Cruise
Avoid wearing running shoes to the dining room as they are a bit too casual. Sports wear like sweatpants, gym shorts, tank tops and flip flops will not be allowed in the dining room.
Baseball caps can be worn to the buffet but on most cruise lines, it will not be allowed in the dining room.
Generally shorts will not be allowed in the dining room. Certain cruise lines like Norwegian Cruise Line will allow shorts in the dining room, so verify with the cruises dress code if you’re not sure what you can and can’t wear.
Although ripped jeans are in style, they will not be allowed in the dining room. It’s better to wear clean jeans, chinos or nice joggers.
What to Wear to a Special Restaurant
On the cruise, it will be expected to dress nicely for specialty restaurants. Anything from a collared shirt and chinos to a suit will be acceptable in specialty restaurants.
Dress shoes or nice and clean sneakers will be perfect to wear to a specialty restaurant.
What to Wear During the Day on a Cruise as a Teen Guy
What to Wear on a Caribbean Cruise
During the day, if you are staying on the cruise ship you will want to wear a t-shirt or a tank top and a bathing suit. As a teenager, you are probably going to spend your days by the pool and eating in the buffet.
If you plan on playing sports throughout the day you are going to want to wear running shoes, shorts and a t-shirt or tank top.
There’s no dress code for what to wear during the day, however you’ll need to put on a shirt if you go inside from the pool area. Wear whatever you’re comfortable in, just keep in mind that it’s going to be hot outside.

What to Wear on a Rainy Day on Cruise
Generally most people go on cruises for the nice weather, but if it happens to rain, you are going to spend most of the day inside.
In this case, you will want to wear comfortable clothes. Sweatpants or shorts and a sweater will be a nice outfit on a rainy day. Don’t forget to pack a sweater or hoodie, as it can be cool sometimes.
What to Wear on an Alaskan Cruise
If you’re going on an Alaskan cruise or a cruise where the weather will be colder, you are going to want to wear warmer clothes and pack a jacket!
Warm sweaters, thick sweatpants, some gloves and a hat will be good for an Alaskan cruise.
How to Dress for a Shore Excursion as a Teenage Guy
Depending on the type of excursion you are doing, you are going to want to dress accordingly.
How to Dress for a Snorkelling Excursion
For a snorkelling excursion, make sure to wear a bathing suit and flip flops or slides. It also get quite hot, so you are going to want to wear either a t-shirt or tank top.
A snorkelling excursion will be very relaxing and fun so wear flip flops, bring sunglasses and don’t forget your sunscreen!
How to Dress for a Tour Excursion
If you’re going on a tour, you may be doing a lot of walking and you are going to want to dress comfortably. If it’s very hot outside, wear shorts and a t-shirt or tank top.
Since you will be doing some walking, it’s a good idea to wear shoes rather than flip flops.
What to Wear to the Club for Teenagers on a Cruise
If you’re a teenager, you will spend your evenings at the club on a cruise. The teen club is a great way to meet friends and to have a lot of fun on your vacation.
For the teen club, you can wear whatever clothes you want. It’s a great time to show off your personal style and to see how styles are different depending on where other people are from around the world.
