Is SSENSE Legit? Honest Review and Experience (with photos)

If you shop for luxury items online, you’ve probably checked out websites like FARFETCH, Saks Fifth Avenue, Nordstrom and SSENSE.

As someone who likes to buy luxury items, oftentimes I find the best deals at SSENSE. Around the holidays, SSENSE has great deals which makes people wonder if the clothing is authentic.

Is SSENSE Legit?

Originally founded in 2003 in Montreal, Canada, SSENSE has become one of the most established and trustworthy online luxury retailers. According to the product page on ssense.com, SSENSE claims that each order undergoes an authenticity check before being shipped to ensure every item is legit.

In this post, I share a review and my experience ordering from SSENSE, how quick items ship from SSENSE and why I purchase my luxury items from SSENSE.

SSENSE Review – My Experience

As someone who has purchased clothing from SSENSE a few times, here is a review of the items I’ve bought, how quickly it shipped and the quality of what I bought.

SSENSE also has a physical location in my hometown of Montreal, but I prefer to use the online platform as there are more brands, sales and options.

What I Purchased From SSENSE

For the last four years, I’ve purchase one item at SSENSE a year around the holidays. Usually, SSENSE has great deals going on and I’ve been able to save some money on luxury items, which is pretty rare.

SSENSE Shoes & Clothing Review

First Purchase on SSENSE

Back in 2019, I ordered Gucci Ace Sneakers. Currently, these shoes are listed at $900 Canadian on the SSENSE website. However, at the time I bought them on sale for $520 Canadian.

At the time, it was really hard to justify spending so much money on shoes, especially as a colleg e s t u d e n t. I remember working really hard and saving for months and I thought the shoes would never go on sale.

One day, I looked up “Gucci Ace Sneaker Sale” on Google and saw that SSENSE was the only online retailer having a sale on the shoes. That’s when I decided to purchase them.

I was scared that the shoes wouldn’t fit, but after doing some research and looking at the size guide provided by SSENSE, I was able to find the right size.

After getting my order, I was satisfied with my purchase. The shoes were brand new and in perfect condition. Shipping was pretty fast as I got the shoes within about 5 days. I was able to track the package and get the item on time

Second Purchase on SSENSE

The second order I made on SSense was a year later when I purchased an Essentials sweater. Right now, Essentials is a really sought after brand and it’s quite hard to get your hands on certain items.

At the time, I was quick to order my sweater before they all sold out. I paid full price, but from what I read online at the time, Essentials had the reputation of having high quality products.

SSENSE is one of the only online retailers to carry Essentials especially in Canada.

When I got my order, it came well packaged and I have loved the sweater. In fact, after having it for 2 years, the sweater still looks almost new and was definitely worth it.

Third Purchase on SSENSE

The most recent item I ordered on SSense, was a few weeks ago when SSENSE was having their holiday sale. It was a sweater from a brand called “Clot” which is a brand I never heard of before.

The sweater was on sale (45% off) and I liked the design of the sweater, so I decided to purchase it. When I got the sweater in the mail, I was super happy with the quality and fit of the sweater.

I was really not sure how the sweater would fit, but SSENSE lets you know the height of the model wearing the product and the size that the model is wearing in the picture.

Based off that information, I was able to order the right size and I was happy that it fit me perfectly. One of the biggest challenges for me when buying clothing online is the sizing. Thankfully, SSENSE is really good at sharing the right information you need.

This sweater came packaged very nicely and the quality is amazing. If it wasn’t for SSENSE, I would’ve never found this brand and I am super satisfied with my order.

Fourth Purchase on SSENSE

My fourth order from SSENSE was a Christmas gift from my girlfriend. She ordered me a Hugo Boss Bathing suit, an orange Nike crewneck sweater, and a green Lacoste T-Shirt. All these items were on sale, so I got a great deal!

I typically would not shop at SSENSE for my fashion basics. However, the deals were hard to beat, and I got all those clothing items for under $120!

When it comes to how my bathing suit fits, I can be very picky. Once the bathing suit arrived, I realized it was too small and did not have the fit I liked.

I exchanged sizes, and a brand-new bathing suit arrived at my door roughly three days later.
I was thrilled with this experience, as they exchanged my product with no questions asked during their busiest time of the year.

How Quick Does SSENSE Ship?

In my experience, all of my orders have come quickly from SSENSE. I have never ordered anything internationally, but on the SSENSE website it does state that international shipping will take between 8-21 days.

When I have ordered, the longest I’ve had to wait was around five days. I’ve also gotten orders within three days.

If you are ordering outside of Canada, be cautious of any duties and taxes. At times, SSENSE will include the duties in the price of the item, but if it’s not included you will be required to pay duties once your package arrives.

Why I Buy From SSENSE

When it comes to online luxury retailers, if I’m looking for an item I always check SSENSE first. Here are a few reasons why I like to shop at SSENSE:

Sales

When looking for luxury clothing, it can be pretty hard to find good deals or sales. As someone who loves luxury clothing, but just recently graduated from college, I’m always looking out for deals.

In my experience, SSENSE is the best place to find new clothing at discounted prices. They regularly have sales and you can get some really sweet deals if you check frequently.

Sizing

When buying clothes online, knowing the right size to get is always a challenge. I’m always hesitant to order shoes, shirts and especially pants online, because I don’t want to deal with the hassle or returning an item.

At SSENSE they make it really easy to find out how an item will fit by giving the height of the model that is wearing an item, as well as the size of the item. They also let you know if they item runs small, big or true to size.

Shipping

In my experience, shipping has been quicker than purchases I’ve made through other websites. Although, SSENSE is in my city which could be a factor as to we the shipping is always quick.

Shipping is either free or very cheap at SSENSE, which is a great benefit.

Selection

One of the main reasons why I like SSENSE so much is because of their selection. They carry more affordable quality brands like Nike and Adidas, but also luxury brands.

At SSENSE they also have some lesser known brands that have some really cool clothes. An example of this, would be the brand CLOT which is found because of SSENSE.

In my experience, all of the Essentials clothing I have purchased from SSENSE is real. I have purchased Essentials from Pacsun and it is real as well.
