“Embrace your body type”…this…totally this. šÆ
So I went to a store today to purchase a new pair of Air Force Ones. While I realize that they don’t look anywherez near as good on me as they do on Gen Z’ers these days, I have been wearing them faithfully since they originally debuted, and will most likely continue to do so for the remainder of my days lol. Anyhow……
The store didn’t have my size in stock. The person who was helping me was not a Gen Z’er, but a member of one of the older generations. They told me that I could use a kiosk in the store to order a pair in my size online. I have genuine difficulties with a lot of today’s technology, and so I asked that salesperson if they could please help me. They told me that they did not have time for that, that the ordering process was “self-explanatory”, and then walked away to assist another customer.
I was feeling so down after they said all of that to me, and I was about to leave the store empty-handed when – out of nowhere – a kind voice called out: “Excuse me, I can help you with that!” It was – yup, a Z’er – a gentleman who was maybe about 20-22 years old and who had just witnessed what had transpired. He was one of the kindest, most mature and patient humans I have ever crossed paths with, and he took care of everything for me on the kiosk. Unlike the older staff member I was dealing with previously, he never made me feel dumb or like I was wasting his time, and he even injected some light humor into the situation. He went through the ordering process like lightning lol. I left that store feeling a thousand times better about myself, life, and humanity – thanks to yet another awesome member of Generation Z.
Ya know, I find it so ironic how the most high-tech generation is also the most human generation. I am finding that Z’ers in general have so much more compassion and maturity than folks who are older than they are and who should know better. Z’ers are so much different from the other generations. They are actual real people who are funny as heck and so easy to interact with.
If Ethan chooses to publish this and you are a Gen Z’er reading this, please don’t ever – and I mean ever – let the older gens discourage you from getting out there, living your life to the max, and being exactly who you are, because so many of you are the kindest, most awesome people I have ever had the privilege of sharing this planet with. This is the 20’s – it’s YOUR decade – so keep on looking out for each other, taking the higher path, and being the bigger people that you are in life. It works and, one day at a time, you really are making this world such a great place in which to live again.
You are all very much valued, respected, and appreciated, and it will always be Gen Z for the win in my book. Thank you so much for all that so many of you do to help me feel like I am somebody who actually matters in this world.
