Why High School is the Best – 10 Ways to Have a Great Time

Are you wondering why high school is the best? Don’t worry, I’ve got you covered. As a recent college graduate, I reminisce about the memories I made in high school and how great of a time it was.

Being a high school student has it’s good times and bad times. However, the good can certainly outweigh the bad if you can make the most out of the situation.

With that being said, here’s why high school is the best:

Why is High School the Best

For many students, high school is the best because they have more freedom, school work is manageable and they can make new friends. In high school, students still have less responsibilities, compared to a college student or an adult. With the right friends, high school is a great time.

In this post, I share 10 ways to have the time of your life in high school.

10 Ways to Have a Great Time in High School

As someone who had a great time in high school, here are the 10 ways any student can have an amazing high school experience:

1. Make Good Friends

In high school, the key to having a great time is making some great friends. As someone who recently graduated college, to this day I am still best friends with my friends from high school.

When it comes to making friends in high school, the important thing is to find people who share similar goals to you. If you’re a student looking to go to a top college, surround yourself with students with the who share same goal.

If you’re more focused on having fun in high school, surround yourself with students who like to have fun. Just remember that doing well in school is important so be sure to find the right balance between school and pleasure.

2. Participate in Extra Curricular Activities

High school is a great chance to try extra curricular activities. Whether it’s a sport, a cultural activity or volunteering, doing something outside of the classroom is a really good idea.

You never know what an extra curricular activity can lead to. At the very least you will be meeting new people and in some cases it can be your path to attending one of the best schools in your country.

Participating in an extra curricular activity is part of the high school experience and a great way to step out of your comfort zone.

3. Do Your Best

Whether you’re an average student or a student who tries really hard, doing your best is important. I think everyone can agree that getting good grades is a really good feeling, so it’s important to study hard.

When I was in high school, especially in my first few years, I wasn’t the best student. Overtime, I began taking school more seriously and found ways to study that worked for me.

Creating the right habit enabled me to improve my high school grades and even make the honor roll for my last two years of high school. Discovering the ways I work best and creating the right habit really came in handy once I got to college.

4. Create Memories

Whether it’s something funny in class or outside of class, creating memories in high school that you can look back on is the best.!Now that I’ve been out of high school for a few years, I often find myself reminiscing on the fun times and memories I’ve made.

Creating memories with your friends in high school is something you will look back on years after you graduate. As corny as it sounds, one day you will look back on high school and think “those were the good old days”.

Your high school years will be like no other time in your life. It’s important to make the most out of it, have fun and make great memories.

5. Discover Your Interests

Throughout your high school years, it’s the perfect time to discover your interests. The earlier you can figure out what you like, the easier it will be to decide what you’d like to study or do after high school.

When I was in high school, I was lucky enough to take an economics course which introduced me to the world of business. After taking that class, I knew that once I reached college I wanted to study business.

Whether it’s a sport, art or even a trade, do your best to try new things so you can find out what you like. High school is the best place to discover your interests.

6. Enjoy Having Minimal Responsibilities

The part that I miss the most about high school is having minimal responsibilities. As much as studying for a test may seem like a lot, life will only get busier, more stressful and harder.

The feeling of finishing a school day and either going home or hanging out with friends is the best. Once you’re in college you may have to work a job or cook for yourself which means you will have less time to relax.

If you’re in high school, enjoy the times where you can just go home from school and relax. Having little to know responsibilities will not last for a very long time so take advantage of it while you still can.

7. School Trips

For many high school students, their best memories were made on school trips. If you’re fortunate enough to go on school trips, I would strongly recommend going as often as possible.

When I was in my final year of high school, I was fortunate enough to go to Europe with some of my classmates. On that trip I had some of my best friends and we had an absolute blast.

To this day, we all still look back on the memories and talk about how great of a time that trip was. At the time, we didn’t even realize how special that trip would be for us later on in life.

Travelling to another place with your friends in high school is seriously worth it and the memories you will make will last a lifetime.

8. Connect With Your Teachers

Having a good relationship with your high school teachers is very important. When it comes to getting extra help or just wanting someone to talk to, having a teacher you can count on will come in handy.

In high school, the best students aren’t always the smartest but the ones who get along with teachers and will ask the right questions.

As a high school student, you never know where having a good relationship with a teacher will take you. Your teacher can write you a reference letter, give you guidance or just be there when you need to talk.

The teachers that I really connected with are ones that I still remember to this day.

9. Avoid Getting Into Relationships

A big mistake many young men and women do in high school is getting into relationships. In high school, relationships rarely last and most of the time it just brings a lot of drama.

As someone who went through all of high school without getting into a relationship, I couldn’t have made a better decision. I never had to deal with breakups and unnecessary drama and I was able to just enjoy myself.

10. Look Forward to the Summer

Every student can relate when I say that the thing we look forward to most is the summer break. The summer breaks during high school will be some of the best times of your life so make the most of it.

Remember that as you get older you will have to work and you will have more responsibilities. Make the most out of those late nights with your friends because you won’t be able to live that way forever.

As a guy in my 20’s who works and has quite a few responsibilities, it makes me a bit sad to think that those days are now behind me.
