Having a small bedroom doesn’t mean that you can’t make your space feel comfortable. If decorated properly, small bedrooms can be cozy and feel more spacious.
As a guy who grew up with a small bedroom, I had to find the best way to make the most out of my small space. Decorating my small room and making it as functional as possible has always been something I’ve been pretty good at.

Small Bedroom Ideas for Men
Before we begin, I just want to mention that every picture in this post is from my room. My method of decorating, is to make the most out of the space that you are given.
I’m no interior decorator, but I can say that I made my room look good and it’s extremely functional. I can relax, get ready, work and play video games all from my small bedroom.
With that being said, here’s some small room furniture recommendations for guys:
Small Bedroom Furniture For Guys:
When choosing the furniture for your room, remember that you want to make your room look like it’s meant for a guy. Everything from the colors, furniture style and wall art can give your bedroom a masculine look.
As a guy, it’s better to go with darker colors for bedroom furniture and accessories. Avoid getting white furniture and stick with deeper colors like grey, brown and black.
Bed
When it comes to choosing a bed for your room, there are two things you need to factor in. The size of your bed and the size of your room.
Having a double or twin size bed will give you more space in your room, but it means that you will have less space when you sleep. As a guy, I like my space when I sleep. Therefore, I got a queen size bed and had to work around it.
Having a large bed in a small room makes it quite challenging to decorate, but I make the most out of my small space.
When it comes to choosing a bed frame, you’re going to want one that takes up as little room as possible. Personally, I use the MALM bed frame from IKEA. It looks good for the price, but there are some great alternatives that can be found on Amazon as well.

Dresser
When choosing a dresser, you are going to want something that doesn’t take up too much space but one that can still hold all your clothing. I’ve tried many different dressers in my room, and the one that fit best was the HEMNES dresser from IKEA.
Everybody’s room is a different shape and size, so it’s important to find a dresser that fits your room just right. When you get a dresser, make sure you have enough room so the drawers can roll out.

Night Table
When it comes to having a small bedroom, one way where you can really save on space is with a night table. If you get a tall and thin night table it’ll give you more room for other furniture.
In my bedroom, I have the Hemnes night table. This one suits my room really well and it’s thin frame saves me a couple inches. When it comes to decorating a small room, every inch counts.

Desk
If you don’t use a desk, then don’t feel obligated to put one in your bedroom. Not having a desk in your room will save you loads of space.
In my room, I went with a really small desk. I really only use my desk for gaming and occasionally I’ll work from it.
Finding the right size desk was super important, because I needed to make sure that I would have enough room to sit comfortably. The desk I have is the MICKE from IKEA.
This desk fits perfectly and leaves me enough room to play games on my XBOX or Computer.
If you have the room, I would strongly recommend you check out this L Shaped Desk. It’s designed for small spaces and you’ll get some extra desk space by it being an L shape.

Computer Chair
When choosing a computer chair, there are a few things that you are going to want to look out for. First off, you don’t want a massive chair. Having a big chair will take up room when you can settle for something smaller.
Another thing to look out for, is that the chair fits under your desk. If your chair doesn’t fit under your desk, it will take up a lot of room for no reason.
The last thing to look out for is that you actually like the chair. If you’re going to be using your desk, you want something that looks nice and is comfortable.

Small Bedroom Decor For Guys
Now that we got the furniture out of the way, it’s time to talk about small bedroom decor and bedroom accessories for guys. There are some great products on Amazon that will save you tons of space.
The decor I chose for my room really levelled up the look of my bedroom, while not taking up much space.

A Pop-up Hamper is a real space saver. If you need a place to put your dirty laundry, there is nothing better than a Pop-up Hamper.

If you have a TV, a great way to save space is to wall mount it. Wall mounting my TV was one of the best things I’ve done. It saves room, looks great and I can watch TV from the comfort of my bed.
When buying a TV wall mount, make sure you get one that fits your TV’s dimensions.

If you have a closet, you are going to want to have a closet organizer. This is one of those items that will save you tons of space.
Decorating a small room, is all about making the most out of the limited space you are given. A close organizer is a real game changer and will give you that extra storage space.

Wall Art
A great way to make your room look nicer and more manly is by adding wall art. Whether it’s poster, pictures or painting wall art will make your room look better.
When it comes to wall art, less is more. Do your best not to overdo it because it will make your room look smaller. Art is subjective, but here are some pictures that I think look nice:

Making your small bedroom look bigger is about being efficient with your space. Over the years, I’ve found ways to make me room look and feel bigger.

1. Light Colors
When it comes to painting your room, go with light colors. Having light walls is in style and will make your room feel brighter and bigger.
Using lighter colors is a total game changer and is very simple to do. Find some white or light grey paint and get to work!
2. Keep it Simple
When it comes to the furniture and decor in your room, keep it simple! Having minimal furniture will give you more space and more your room feel bigger.
This also applies to when you are decorating your walls. Having too many pictures, posters and paintings will make your room seem cluttered.
Going with a minimalist approach is in style and it will really open your room up.
3. Add Mirrors
One of the best ways you can make your room feel bigger, is by adding mirrors. Mirrors create an illusion that your room is bigger than it is.
Many interior decorators will add mirrors in small space in order to make a room feel larger. Having a mirror in your room is also very practical.
4. Maximize Your Space
Maximizing your space is the single most important part of making your room feel bigger. When shopping for furniture, take measurements in advance so you can get furniture that fits your room perfectly.
Having a small room is all about making the most out of what you got. Utilize corners and different areas in your room to get the best bedroom layout possible.
5. Downsize Your Bed
If you value your space when you sleep, then this tip isn’t for you. Downsizing your bed will save you tremendous amounts of space.
When it comes to decorating and finding furniture, having a twin sized bed will be a real space saver.
