When I was a teenager a few years ago, I remember looking for hobbies that were fun and would keep me busy. Now that I’m a bit older, I’ve tried and experienced many different hobbies and pastimes that I’m excited to share with you.

Cooking is a great hobby to get into as a teenager. Knowing how to cook will come in handy later on in life when your family members are no longer around to cook for you.
Online, there are plenty of great videos and recipes that will teach you how to make delicious meals. The best part about knowing how to cook, is that you get to eat it after!
2. Gaming
Gaming is a super fun hobby, but can become boring overtime. If you’re tired of playing games like Call of Duty and Fortnite, try different games.

Another great way to have fun gaming, is to try competitive gaming. Get a couple friends together, and play as a team and with strategy.

3. Fitness
Fitness is a really good hobby to get into as a teen guy. Going to the gym is a great way to get in shape and to look your best.
If you have trouble finding the motivation to workouts, try a different kind of workout or class. Something that I’ve enjoyed doing as a form of fitness is boxing.
There are classes for cardio boxing where you will exercise while doing boxing exercises. If you want to become more skilled, try going to a boxing gym or a martial arts gym.
Boxing is a fun way to get in really good shape while learning a sport.
4. Magic Tricks
Magic tricks may seem like a really strange hobby but it will always impress others and you can turn it into a business. Magic is really easy to start as all you need is a deck of cards.
On YouTube you can find plenty of card tricks that will impress people. Once you become skilled, you can begin performing for people.
I had a friend who picked up magic when he was younger and once he became good, he started to magic shows at birthday parties, school and at other events. This ended up becoming a great way for him make money while going to college later on.
5. YouTube
If you are knowledgeable and passionate about a certain topic, YouTube is a great place to share your experience with others. If you’re just starting out, you can use your phone and apps like iMovie to film and edit your videos.
If you upload videos consistently and improve your content, overtime, you will begin to grow on YouTube and eventually you can even make money.
YouTube has changed people’s lives and if you feel like you can teach or entertain others, it’s a great new hobby to get into.
6. Sports
Playing sports is a great hobby for teenage boys. As a Canadian, I grew up playing ice hockey. Playing on a sports team taught me team work, leadership, life skills and it was a lot of fun.
There are so many different sports that you can try and it’s a great way to make new friends.
A great sport that will improve your cardio and get you into good shape is swimming. Most community centres will have a pool that will be affordable to join.
If you are not as athletic, try playing sports like Ping Pong. Growing up, I had a Ping Pong table at my house and it was always fun to play with friends as I would improve every game.

If you’re artistic and want a fun hobby that will pass the time, try drawing. On YouTube and online there is plenty of content that will teach you tips, tricks and new techniques for free.
Once you get good enough, consider putting your art on social media. Drawing is a really affordable hobby and it’s worth trying out.
8. Photography
Photography is a very fun and practical hobby to get into. Nowadays, if you have a phone, you have a great quality camera. Newer iPhones have amazing cameras that can take some really great pictures.
If you want to get into photography and want a real camera, check facebook marketplace. There are always people looking to get rid of cameras for affordable prices.
If you put the time into learning how to take great pictures, eventually, you can turn it into a side hustle.
There are people will want photo shoots as well as real estate agents and businesses who will want pictures taken as well.
9. Thrifting
Thrifting is a fun hobby to try out new styles and to get some cool clothes at affordable prices. Retro styles are in fashion so picking up some clothes at the thrift shop is a great way to wear some trendy clothes.
Thrifting can also be turned into a business. If you find cool items you can resell them on apps like Depop, Grailed and Facebook Marketplace.
I know quite a few people that resell thrifted clothes and it’s a good way to make some extra money.
10. Biking
If you know how to ride a bike try bike riding. Biking is the best way to get outside and explore your area. Biking is good for your physical health and it will keep you in shape.
If you are looking to get into the hobby and you don’t want to spend a lot of money check for bikes on Facebook Marketplace and Kijiji.

A nice and relaxing hobby is painting. Painting is pretty affordable to start. All you need is some cheap paints and a canvas.

If you want a hobby that will make you money, try flipping items. Apps like Facebook Marketplace and Kijiji are great for reselling items.
If you’ve never flipped items before, make sure to do your research. Before purchasing anything, make sure there is a demand for the item that you want to flip.
Pay attention to the market so you get an idea of what’s a good deal and what’s a bad deal. Flipping can turn into a really profitable business when you are a teenager.

Learning music can be anything from music production to learning an instrument. There are many applications for music production and making beats can be a really fun hobby if you like music.
If you are interested in learning a musical instrument there is plenty of free content online that will teach you how to play an instrument.

If you love animals, dog walking is a really fun hobby which can make you some money. If you have neighbours that have dog’s offer to walk their dog for a few dollars.
By doing this you’ll get to hang out with a dog in your free time and you’ll make money doing it. Many people will be more than willing to support you as a teenager especially when you’re providing a good service.

18. Chess
Chess is a great hobby to learn which involves thinking and strategy. If you want to learn or improve your chess game there are plenty of ways to do it online.
Online, you can play chess against others or computers which will improve your game. If you are looking to learn new strategies, there is no better way to improve than through YouTube videos .
19. Reading the Right Way
Trust me, when I was a teenager I never read – but once I found the right book, I began to enjoy it. It might take a while to find a book that you actually like, but there is something for everyone.
You will have access to books at your school library or your local public library. Take out a few books and try to find something you actually enjoy to read.
If you prefer reading from your phone or iPad, there are plenty of apps for that.
Personally, I like business books because I feel like by reading them, I’m actually earning something and becoming smarter.
If you don’t like reading books, try listening to audiobooks. They’re great to listen to when you’re on the school bus, playing video games or even at school.
