9 Ways to Be Cool in College

1. Keep Up With The Latest Trends

If you want to be considered cool in college, make an effort to keep up with the latest fashion, music or pop culture trends. Other college students appreciate if you like the same music or fashion as them and if you find the same things funny.

When I was in college, I liked wearing streetwear to class, which was a popular look on campus. It helped me to connect with other students in my classes over shoes and streetwear brands.

The more you keep up with the latest trends, the easier it will be to bond with other students. If you share the same interests with a lot of people around school, making friends will be super easy.

2. Put Yourself Out There

If you want to be cool in college, you are going to have to put yourself out there. Many people stick to their small friend group in college, but this will prevent you from making new friends and meeting more people.

Stepping out of your comfort zone and talking to your classmates, participating in class or attending school events are great ways to become known around campus.

Never be afraid to talk your classmates or ask a question in class. Overtime, you will be a familiar face around college and you will have a lot of friends.

If you have a lot of friends in college, it is more likely that you will be invited to parties and you will be considered “cool”.

3. Hang Out Around School

Hanging out around school is a great way to meet people and make friends outside of class. Many college students will go back to their dorms between classes, but this will stop them from connecting with other students.

Between classes is a really good time to get to know your classmates outside of the class room. If you have a lot of friends in college, you will seem really cool.

4. Be Friendly

It’s important to be friendly with everyone around campus. Trust me, students and teachers alike will gravitate towards you if you’re open, nice and friendly.

In college, make sure to be friendly with guys and girls. If you’re cool with everyone and you’re a fun person, people will want to hang out with you.

5. Use Social Media

In today’s day and age, social media presence is important . Nowadays, connecting with people over Instagram, Snapchat or Facebook is just as important as connecting with people in real life.

If you’re friends with your classmates, get their social media contact info so you can connect with them outside of class.

A lot of college parties and events will often be planned on social media and through chats. If you aren’t using social media, you will be missing out.

Make sure to engage with people’s posts on social media and check in on your friends that you haven’t talked to in a while. These are ways that you will stay in the loop on social media in college.

Don’t forget to be active on your personal account and post pictures occasionally.

As crazy as it may sound, if you have a strong social media presence, other students will see you as popular and cool in college.

6. Don’t Try Too Hard

At the end of the day, being cool isn’t the most important thing in the world. Don’t change who you are or try to act a certain way so that people look at you differently.

If you apply my advice and just be yourself, you will seem like a genuine, authentic person that other people like and admire.

When you come off too strong, it’s obvious that you’re trying too hard. Unfortunately, this will make you seem like the opposite of cool!

There’s nothing wrong with being friendly or keeping up with the latest trends, but always stay true to yourself.

7. Dress Nicely

In college, the way you dress impacts the way people are going to think of you. If you come to school wearing dirty clothes and putting no effort into the way you look, there’s a good chance other students won’t want to associate themselves with you.

If you come to school wearing a nice outfit, you will be more approachable and other students will find you cool.

When I was in college, I was going to at least two parties a week and normally it would be the same groups of people at parties. If you’re always going to parties other students will think you are cool and popular.
